Winter stupidland.
So, it’s fucking snowy here right now. It generally does not snow much in this part of the world. It is especially horrible around my place, higher elevation, less traffic. Yesterday I had the day off. The dog was ill so I had to take her on a walk to go to the bathroom three times. I felt like I was walking her all day.
Our last walk was actually kind of fun though. I brought my camera and captured some of the ‘wonder.’

If you know me well you know how perfect it is that there is a VW camper parked in our driveway. Unfortunately it is too stinky to have sleepovers in like I used to when I was a kid.

After a WONDERFUL conversation with my mother last night where she suggested I put down my dog because it’s an inconvenience, I had the most horrible nightmare filled sleep. My family was holding me prisoner, it was Christmas, they were making me do everything and being extremely cruel, telling me I am fucked up, too sensitive, and worse. Mean to the point of abuse. Even my favourite little cousin was making me cry. The ferries were canceled because of a snowstorm. I kept trying to call Jeff on the phone but when my family would catch me they would take it away. I kept forgetting his phone number… then later in another nightmare I was raped repeatedly, and not in the sexy fantasy way. In the afraid for your life way. Great sleep.
THANKS, MOM! Or rather, thanks my stupid brain that let’s insignificant things destroy me. Sigh.

Surprisingly merry day today… Despite I have so far got no warcrafting or Christmas card writing or present making done… and despite the fact that I have barely slept the past two nights due to being stressed out about my relationship with my mother.
When I woke up this morning (had the day off today) the doggie was so excited to see me… I pet her for a long time and she was happy. Then I decided to humiliate her and dressed her up in garland and took photos. Don’t worry, she got treats out of it. Have been listening to Badly Drawn Boy and Brendan Canning all day and it is AWESOME. I must not underestimate how much my music means to me.
Really dreading taking the dog out before Jeff gets home from work… it is so ominous and dark and disgusting looking out! Eek!
I think this is the Christmassiest my place has ever been… perhaps to compensate for a bit of family dreads with the realities of Christmas, and the loss I have experienced in my life as of late. I almost feel guilty for having any Christmas spirit while my dear ex is left alone. But you know what, life must go on.

Atheists posted this sign beside a Nativity Scene outside a government building in Olympia, WA.
“Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds,” the sign says in part.
Dan Barker, a former evangelical preacher who now heads up the atheist and agnostic Freedom From Religion Foundation, said it was important for atheists to see their viewpoints validated alongside everyone else’s…
“It’s not that we are trying to coerce anyone; in a way our sign is a signal of protest,” Barker said. “If there can be a Nativity scene saying that we are all going to hell if we don’t bow down to Jesus, we should be at the table to share our views.”
He said if anything, it’s the Nativity scene that is the intrusion.
“Most people think December is for Christians and view our signs as an intrusion, when actually it’s the other way around,” he said. “People have been celebrating the winter solstice long before Christmas. We see Christianity as the intruder, trying to steal the holiday from all of us humans.”
The 50 lb sign was stolen a few hours after it’s erection (LOLZ) and thrown in a ditch. A temporary sign will replace it.
Gaylor said a note would be attached saying, Thou shalt not steal. “I guess they don’t follow their own commandments.” she said.
Is she really just figuring this out now?

New wordpress throwing me off. Here is my Christmas tree but these pictures don’t really do it justice. I had it up on November 30th, which is pretty much normal or something. Only due to delays in getting the tree. Pre-lit is pretty much amazing. I wish decorating a tree didn’t feel sort of like work, as it’s what I used to do for a living. Well, on the go0od days. I intentionally avoid the whole ‘themed tree’ thing, when I got my decorations as an adult I wanted it to be a mishmash from over the years as I grew up with. Note the cheesy garland. It is getting dangerously closed to polar bear and rudolph themed but whatever. I even bought tinsel thinking, ‘Whoa dude, I haven’t seen this in a while., Why don’t people use this anymore?’ Cause it’s ugly and annoying is why, I found after putting a little on the tree.
